The bikes of this young German brand have all got two points in common: They are very well designed and run on the Gates Carbodrive. This belt transmission doesn't require greasing and let's your pants clean. In addition you can't hear it under normal circumstances: No squeaking, rattling, squealing....
You've got a choice of singlespeed, fixie and 8-, 11- or 14-speed versions. All of them in two respective colors and with either the unique Crocodile tensioning system for the belt or the completely new 2011 dropout for geared versions.
The singlespeed/fixie versions use flipflop hubs to be used either with freewheel or fixed cogs. In addition the rear hubs have 135mm spacing so you'll have much stronger rear wheels than with conventional 120mm spacing frames and hubs.
Also new for 2012 are:
- Integrated eyelet for mounting the Schindelhauer mudguards.
- A refined internal cable routing.
- Lighter pedals.
- Ludwig XIV has been upgraded with the Gates Center Track belt, the lighter Continental GrandPrix 4-Season tires and a more backset seatpost.
- There will be Tubus Fly carriers with matching paint, too.
