At the BROMPTON Urban Challenge on Juli 4th, teams of 4 folding bike riders accomplish diverse tasks in a creative and playful way. You don't need to be a model athlete, cleverness will help a lot. More information and registration at BROMPTON Switzerland.

The bikes for the new season are currently coming in. The Countryman, the Aurora and the new Space Horse have already arrived. Soon there will follow Speed 5 and the great Wilhelm XVIII from Schindelhauer.
For the other Schindelhauer models we will have to wait a bit longer, they should arrive end of April.

As I am in a rush to get the removal done I can only furnish these news in German. Hope for your comprehension;
Geschätzte Kundin, geschätzter Kunde. Liebe Freunde, Radlerinnen und Zweiradbewegte
Wegen der anhaltend schwierigen Personalsituation habe ich beschlossen, wieder dauerhaft alleine zu arbeiten. Als Konsequenz daraus verkleinere ich auch mein Geschäft. Da ich kurzfristig mit einem geeigneten Raum und der Nachmiete des bestehenden Ladens Glück hatte, darf ich den Umzug der Velostatt bereits auf Juli 2014 ankünden: Ab da befindet sich die Velostatt an der Gurtendorfstrasse 10 in 3084 Wabern. Telefon und E-Mail bleiben gleich, die neuen öffnungszeiten folgen zu gegebener Zeit auf der Webseite. In der zweiten Junihälfte bin ich ausserhalb der öffnungszeiten mit dem Umzug beschäftigt und kann deshalb keine reguläre Werkstattarbeit annehmen. Bei Garantiefällen biete ich natürlich im Rahmen der Möglichkeiten Hand. Ich bedaure den Wegzug aus der Länggasse und es tut mir leid für all die Kunden, die aus dem Quartier zu uns kamen. Gleichzeitig freue ich mich auf das Neue und kann getrost sagen: Das Angebot bleibt in gewohnter Qualität bestehen. Sobald dies möglich sein wird, geht auch der Webshop wieder online. Da der Platz am neuen Ort nicht mehr ganz so grosszügig sein wird, gibt es ab sofort und bis 27. Juni eine Reihe von Fahrrädern stark reduziert zu haben. Keine Reservation. Der reduzierte Preis ist an die Bedingung geknüpft, dass die Velos bis 27. Juni bezahlt und abgeholt sind. Und das Ganze Donnerstag / Freitag 13:30-18:30, Samstag 10:00-16:00 (aber nicht mehr am 28.).
Auf der Webseite erscheinen die ursprünglichen Preise. Bei Bezahlung und Abholung bis 27. Juni gelten die reduzierten Preise wie folgt:
Ich freue mich, an dieser Stelle auch die sensationellen BROMPTONs als Neuzugang vorzustellen. Diese Faltvelos lassen sich sehr klein und schnell falten, sind bis ins Detail durchdacht und in unzähligen Farb- und Ausstattungsvarianten konfigurierbar. Mit dem Bikebuilder könnt ihr selber euer BROMPTON zusammenstellen und auch gleich den Preis in Schweizer Franken erfahren. The Bernese bicycle messenger cooperative is celebrating their 25th Anniversary and therefore organizing the European Bicycle Messenger Championships 2013 (ECMC) at Lorraine quarter in Berne. Alongside the actual races the whole event will also be a big party.
Organisation is made by a voluntary staff investing hours of hours - instead of riding their bikes...

Our newest masterpiece named Seta is an exclusive, fast and light touring and commuting bike. The frame is a prototype made from Reynolds 953 stainless steel tubing, fillet brazed and manufactured to our specifications in Switzerland.
For the equipment we chose only the finest and reached a sensational 9.84 kg with dynamo lighting system, removable pedals, rear rack and fenders - still using solid parts with classic looks. That bike rides likes on silk, that is how we chose the name; Seta means silk in Italian.
Movies to celebrate 1st year

Soon it is a full year that we reside in our new premises at Neubrückstrasse 84 in Bern. That is why we show a few movies and drink a beer with you at August 18th. We might not have a chair for everybody, so a few pillows or folding chairs are welcome.
Start is at 18:00 with our bar, at about 18:45 we start with "Vive le Tour" as a teaser, a short Tour de France documentary from 1962 by Louis Malle. At about 19:30 comes "Jour de Fête" by Jacques Tati At about 21:00 comes "Two Seconds" by Manon Briand We also have "Quicksilver" by Thomas Michael Donnelly and will decide at about 23:00 if we show that one, too. Free entry
You do not know what to do before in the afternoon? Visit "Apfelgold - desserts et livres". Donat and Karin are opening their café right beside our shop from 14:00 with free homemade sweeties. At 18:00 they will send you to our place to continue a pleasurable day.

For the re-opening of our shop we throw a party on August 11th from 16:00. It features readings, bar piano, crèpes and bar. You are all cordially invited to it! Doors and bar are open from 16:00. At about 17:15 Hans Witschireads a selection of bicycle texts from different origins. From 18:00 crèpes will be available. At 20:00 Urs Mannhart will be reading from one of his own texts. Of course, the bicycle will have its role here, too. Open End: It will be worth passing by even after that dinner, movies or whatever. We are looking forward to seeing you.

We have received today the first Schindelhauer 2011 bikes. Out of our pre-order bikes the 56cm Siegfried with raw alloy finish is yet ready for test rides. We also have received diverse Ludwig VIII and a Lotte bicycle which are ordered by customers but will be here for a few days. They can already be seen here and test ridden with a bit of luck (we do the final tuning successively).
In the next days there will also be coming in for our permanent show: - Ludwig XIII 59 cm cream white - Ludwig XI 56cm schist black - Viktor 56cm edelweiss - Ludwig XIV 53cm cream white (ordered for a customer - will not be here for long)
With this we will have medium sizes and all colors here to view and test ride. Very small and large sizes and any other combination of model, size and color we will happily order for you.
Bikepolo Swiss Championships

On 2nd and 3rd of April there were the Swiss selections for the big bikepolo summer tournament at Barcelona. We sponsored the first prize which went to Geneva. 2 teams from Berne were amongst the 5 out of total 22 which may go to Barcelona. Congrats! And thanks, boys, for the great job of organizing the whole thing!

Mixer 11-speed just arrived

Finally the Mixer is back in our showroom. Charge has upgraded it with 11 speeds (Shimano Alfine), Tektro disc brakes and steel fenders. Almost like Santa Claus, they seem to be able to read our wishlist... Mixer is in stock in size M and S, other sizes to be ordered. We have also preordered the silver version. It is going to arrive a bit later.
As we found better raw materials, we could reduce the weight by up to 35% (450mm version).
